New Yurt on the Block

The days are shortening – but the work isn’t – it’s all systems go here

Hidden Valley Yurts: the detailed drawings for the facilities block have been passed by the Planners – we are delighted with the design by Rachel Sully and especially excited by the fact that the timber will all come from our own wood – we gave Dai our shopping list on Monday and the trolley was full of felled European larch by Wednesday. A visiting Forester tells us it is the best timber he has seen as it has grown slowly so is much harder than quick grown softwood. Martin will be back with his mobile early next month – hope the dry weather continues or towing him up the track will be an interesting exercise – the tractor pulls his landrover and he pulls the mill (please don’t ask me why the mill isn’t just towed by the tractor – I think it’s a boy thing – slithering up muddy tracks backwards!). Mike 'Born to Dig' Gough has just finished sculpting the platforms for the facilities block and the yurts. It is starting to feel very real now - helped by a steady flow of guests coming to stay in our demonstration yurts - we even have bookings for mid November.

2nd Shipment of Yurts - arrived bang on time and once again we were lucky to have a skilled driver who negotiated trhe difficult access without complaint. We are really delighted with the new 3.8m yurt - it is perfect for festivals and dens.

We now have 4 sizes in stock and hopefully we will be able to keep up with demand.
