December 2007 Round Up

Wow, 2007 just flew by. No time to be bored that’s for sure. It’s been a real whirlwind – location filming, campsite opening, barn building, so many sales we hit the VAT threshold – good for us but it means a price hike next month unfortunately.

Its building time now the yurt holiday guests are gone and yurt viewings have slowed down (but not by much!). The base of the new yurt storage barn is done – much easier than I expected thanks to the muscles of Mike and Ron Gough, some ready mix concrete and a nifty little roller bar – a whole heap easier than tamping with a length of wood. The whole base was done in a few hours and Peter spent a happy few days over Christmas putting the frame up.

On the animal front we have two fabulous new Jacob rams called Harlequin and Highlander and a little bundle of bounce called Tilly – an English (huh – I was over-ruled on the Welsh front) springer spaniel. Her sire is a drug sniffer dog and her dam a working gun dog – so she isn’t exactly restful! A natural worker, she has already sorted out how to get the chickens back into their pen but the sheep are a bit too big when you are only 8 weeks old.
